hypothetical question that I see coming now that we're in the "new norm"

when someone gets sick a week after you do work in a home, what's the plans for when they sue you for making them sick?
almost a sure thing that's going to happen to some service provider and employer large or small

anyone having them sign a liability waiver?
If you have employees, have they signed waivers that you're not responsible if they get it while in someone's home?
(contingent you've provided them with education and PPF)

Prove you got sick from me...then we'll talk.
Prove that you had absolutely ZERO contact with anyone in this world from the time of my services to the time of you getting sick. (Anyone and everyone including your delivery services, mail carriers etc)

Naah...not happening.

Don't be so sure Zee. Michigan has contracted with a service to do that type of contact tracing. It was a bit of a stink since the no-bid contract initially went to a known political organization with major ties to the current Governor's party and office. If that hadn't of happened, I don't know how many people would have known about it.

As an o/o I ask customers, If they or anyone in the house has been sick with a respiratory illness, or has knowingly been in contact with anyone who has had a respiratory illness in the last 2 weeks?
And are there any special requirements that need to be met?

If I had staff on my residential cleaning side that would be a written form, to show both duty of care to customers and my staff

thankfully NZ is down to 1 active case with no community transmission for several weeks now. So we're most likely going to be dealing with the financial effects not the health effects going forward.

No probs yet. We generally don't bring it up other than telling the peeps on the phone that we prefer it if they are gone during cleaning while our techs clean wearing fresh masks and gloves. Not making my customers sign a disclaimer. I think that creates a negative moment. We've taken lots of risks in this biz. I think this is one worth taking.
