Hey-

Got my TCS Chief installed this week. Ran it Thursday thru today. 16 hours total. The manual says to change the oil every 25 hours. That’s like once a week. Doesnt seem right, is that normal? Oil filter every 50. Also, I bought oil for it to have on hand, is synthetic oil ok for the unit? It’s the right oil per the manual but they dint say anything about synthetic vs regular.

Thanks!

PS - shout out to Mikey for helping me with a replacement part for my wand that I broke while changing jets. Thank you sir!

It was always a rule of thumb to change the oil and filter every 50hrs for air cooled engines

For water cooled engines, change the oil and filter every 100hrs

For the Kawasaki V-water cooled engines...I don't know. It might be a little different

Thanks Matt. The Honda engine on the chief is air cooled. 50 hours seems right but changing the filter and oil but between the 5o hours at 25 seemed excessive. I’ll do whatever the manual says but was curious if others do them that often

It’s only a couple quarts of oil every 25hrs. No big deal on the cost.

Changing oil sooner than later is always better

Which manual is telling you that? The tcs manual or the Honda engine manual? If it’s the Honda…you probably want to follow the directions
