Every time I clean this lady's carpet it wicks in a different spot..

25 plus year old poly two dogs a cat a parrot and a plumbing company being ran out the back door..

No rhyme or reason to the wicking and it never happens where you think it would.


Cleaned it last week and of course happened again..

Tomorrow I'm going in with the op machine and a whole bunch of peroxide base and cap and you're going to make that thing glow and in the future I'll refuse the hot water extract it...

Today I found myself stewing over a recent nasty Yelp review from an angry customer. You know the type—hostile before you even step in the door. Nothing I could’ve done would’ve changed that.

Today I had two jobs that reminded me why I still do this work part time. One was a reunion with a Santa Cruz couple I hadn’t seen in 30 years—we spent more time catching up than cleaning. The other, a dear local client I admire, laughed when I told her I wanted to put this on my website:
“I only provide service for happy people who live with purpose.”

She joked I might only find three clients left in town if I did—but she got my point.

I've had a very turbulent day to say the least, and Ive been waiting for something to happen to make sense of it all, and low and behold, as I'm cleaning next to the client's bird cage,, a newspaper article caught my eye. It was face up, under the bird's target zone, (as you can see) and like a divine nudge: “LOOK HERE, MIKE!”

It was from Taryn Hansen—someone I adore from my church—writing about Ecclesiastes. The same book I’ve been stuck in (willingly) for weeks. Solomon’s lesson? You can have it all—fame, fortune, stuff—and still be empty if you’re missing purpose.

That article led to a rich conversation with my client about God, service, lizards, sin, and yep… purpose.

I’m no King Solomon, but I’ve got enough. Enough to choose peace. Enough to spend my time with people who love life and value passionate service providers..

And enough to know that purpose doesn’t come from stuff—but from Him.

This planet is snappy. I get my tire and wheel changed, go a little bit and I run out of gas Reminds me of when I first started out in business. Humble pie day I guess. My 22 yr/o granddaughter and her fiancée till Friday closed on a new house a mile from me today. Pretty sure I'm blessed!
